Timeless Pints and Delius

Wednesday. September 1, 2015

Delius Restaurant, www.deliusrestaurant.com and Timeless Pints,  www.timelesspints.com,   a brewery in Lakewood combined their talents tonight to host a beer dinner.  Dinner was held at the brewery, so benches and disposable dishes. Plates and bowls were made from palm fronds and totally biodegradable.  Big crowd tonight. Sold out with a waiting list.

Started off with a plate of 3 breads all made from the spent grain from 3 different beers. All of them were good in different ways. A Honey Blond Soda Bread with Honey Butter, IPA Wheat Bread with Cabernet Brie Spread and  Huckleberry Oatmeal Stout Squaw Bread with Cherry Wood, Smoked Jalapeno and Bacon Jam. No complaints here. The jam was a knockout. I ended up taking most of mine home because the servings were very generous and I did not need to fill up on bread before dinner. Beer served was a A Swarm and a Hatter Honey Blond Ale, Liked this beer a lot.

Next up was a Lobster, Grapefruit Gelee, Frisee-Arugula Salad, Hearts of Palm and Lobster Vinaigrette.  Lobster had good flavor and the grapefruit gelee added a nice component to the salad.  Beer was a Wicked White IPA. I am not a fan of IPA's. Tasted this one and put it aside. Drank some of the Honey Blond Ale with this dish.

A plate of Pork belly, Spiced Molasses Syrup, Roasted Summer Squash, Papaya and Orange Crisp was next.  Pork Belly was perfect. really liked the molasses syrup with it. Another IPA was served. The Expeditious Guest. Again one sip and put it aside and finished the Honey Blond Ale.

If you like IPA's these were probably very good. Hoppy is just not my thing.

A plate of Shredded Chicken in Mole, Tart Cherry Granita, Blistered peppers and Plantain Chips appeared.  Mole was good, the granita added a nice cleansing bite. I passed on the peppers because of the heat. Beer was a Precarious Proposal Amber Ale. A good combination and a good beer.

Dessert  was a Nutella and Huckleberry Jam Panini with Huckleberry Stout Ice Cream. the ice cream had great flavor. The Panini was very good but by this time I did not need more bread. Ate about half but devoured the ice cream. Paired with the  Huckleberry Oatmeal Stout. Really liked this beer. I am into dark beers and stouts. Love the flavors of them.

A good dinner. Good beers and a really fun evening. Delius is hoping do do a few of these dinners every year with Timeless Pints.
