Oktober Fest at Jagerhaus

Saturday, October 3, 2020 12 of us tonight for dinner at the Jagerhaus restaurant in Anaheim, Because of Covid we were split into 3 tables. I felt that only 12 with 3 tables worked out mush better that 23 at 2 tables last month at Buon Gusto. Much easier to get up and talk with others and share wine. Sometimes at these dinners there are so many wines that there is no way to taste them all even with very small pours. I had ordered my "Ham Hock" the day before. It was succulent and moist. Very large, so much so that I will be able to use the skin to flavor a pot of beans. Had red cabbage and spatzele on the side. A very mixed bag of wines tonight. Most people tried to keep the "German" theme in their selection of wines 2016 Selbach-Oster Pinot Blanc, dry - good 2016 Mebmer, Rotwein Trocken, Pinot Noir - light NV Weingut Lothar Kettern, Spatzburgunder Rose Sekt - very good 2018 Wavery St Wines, Sangiovese Rose - barely drinkable 2019 Wavery St Wines Malbec Rose - colored water 2010 Merrian Snedred, Red Blend - ok NV Von Winning Extra Brut Riesling - very good 2018 Alzinger, Gruner Veltliner - very good 2015 Freiherr Von Gleichenstew Pinot Noir = very light 2018 Blue Nun - still the same after all these years 2018 Castoro, Pinot Grigio - did not taste 2014 Denner, Ditch Digger - very good 2018 Kellermeister Privot, Gruner Veltliner - not great 2019 Singing, Gruner Veltliner - OK 2018 Peju Winemaker Select, Red Wine OK 2013 Huber Sta.
